H ey everyone!I am new to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and I'd like to download skins, but I use. CS:GO skins on. [HELP] Extracting skin patterns and their VTF's. Does anyone know if when a skin is purchased from the marketplace, is an actual.vtf downloaded locally? The wear off can be altered from alpha-channel (see the CSGO's. That's a sweet color and randomized pattern. For my first skins I just converted a VTF skin to Targa and painted on it, but I am.
About
Packrat downloads the latest CSGO matchmaking demos for a set of steam accounts.
Dependencies
On Windows you need the Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for VS 2013 x86
Disclamers
![Cs go vtf patterns download free Cs go vtf patterns download free](/uploads/1/2/6/1/126148884/820380693.jpg)
C++ code is based on https://bitbucket.org/ACB/boiler hence GPL3.
Usage
Edit packrat.ini to configure the path to steam binary, demo directory and steam accounts.
If you don't have any accounts configured, it will download the demos for the currently logged in account if steam is running. Otherwise, running packrat kills the current steam process, launches steam logged in with each user and downloads the latest 8 demos (if they aren't present in that directory). Since steam pops up windows (log in window, steam window) when it starts even with -silent (which doesn't seem to work at all on linux) the most convenient way to use it is to set it up in cron/windows scheduled tasks (ie. run every night at 4:00).
It will NOT check if the downloaded demos are corrupted.
Since packrat generates the same files that the csgo client does when downloading a demo from the Watch menu (x.dem and x.dem.info), the demos should show up in the Watch menu.
Build dependencies
- cmake
Building on Linux
Download Steamworks SDK (you need to create a free account) and extract it somewhere. Set the environment variable STEAMWORKS_SDK to the path where you extracted it. Cmake will use it to figure out the paths to libs and headers.
For protobuf a package named something like protobuf-dev should be available on your official distribution repository.
Once the dependencies are set, run the usual mkdir build && cd build && cmake .. && make
The broiler binary needs to find steam_appid.txt into its directory or the directory from where it is run.

Tutorial on how to get all of the skin files!
I'm making this so that people who would like to do things using the skins (such as /u/Gentleman_Cake in his earlier post) will be able to find all of them (or at least I believe this to be all of them.)
Things you will need:
- An image editing software of your choice, if you plan on using the skin textures for something like a desktop wallpaper. (i.e. Gimp, Photoshop, etc.)
Now to start the actual tutorial!
- Open GCFScape, and go to File > Open.
- Navigate to your CS:GO directory inside GCFScape. It should be similar to this: 'C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonCounter-Strike Global Offensivecsgo'.
- Locate the file called pak01_dir.vpk, (it should be at the bottom of the list) and click open.
- Once opened, select the materials folder, right click it, and extract it to 'C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonCounter-Strike Global Offensivecsgo'. This process may take a few minutes depending on the speed of your computer.
- When it's done extracting, go to this directory. 'C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonCounter-Strike Global Offensivecsgomaterialsmodelsweaponspaints' You may put this into the bar at the top of the window, or navigate there manually.
- Inside of these folders are .vtf files. This is the file type used by the game to store the skins. This is where VTFEdit becomes useful.
- Find the skin you want to use and open it in VTFEdit. (Not all skins have the same name as their file, such as the MP9 | Dart, is called mp9_chevron.vtf)
- Make sure it's the skin you want to use and then go to File > Export, where you can choose your preferred file type (.tga, .png, .jpg, .bmp) and save it to the location you want, such as the desktop.
- Make something cool with it!
I have had no problems with my CS:GO relating to any textures after doing this. If something happens to your files, you may want to verify the game cache, and if that doesn't work, try reinstalling.

I don't know what people will use the skins for, but I hope that if they do decide to use them, that what they make is something really nice. Perhaps you wanted to make a desktop background that looked like it was Case Hardened, or something like that. I'd like to end this by saying I have no affiliation with Valve, and that these files should not be used for monetary gain, such as modifying them and submitting them as a 'new' skin on the workshop.
